    Hi folks,
The journey continues. I've found a car of interest, a 308, imported by current owner, currently in Victoria.

The car is 'pre-1989'. To get NSW rego I'll need "a person accredited as a licensed certifier on the Roads and Maritime Vehicle Safety Compliance Certification Scheme (VSCCS)".
    Any recommendations?

I've spoken with Sam at Cavallino for other stuff, he's been super helpful (thanks F chat for recommendation) but they can't do the VSCCS, and he didn't have a lead. Cavallino will probably be doing other work on the car, so Northside location might be helpful, but any recommendations for a certifier in Sydney with relevant experience will be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Peter

You'll need to talk to someone who has done a few dodgy deals before... Greg? Ian?

I can’t help you with a certifier, but has the car ever been registered in Australia?
Or has it just been recently imported from OS and has never been registered here before..

    Hi Peter
I was contacted about your car (GTS QV), my recommendation was to check first that it's on the NEVDIS database. https://infrastructure.gov.au/vehicles/imports/vins.aspx
If its on the database then NSW historic rego shouldnt be a problem as you'll be able to get a pink slip ( and I understand you've already taken steps to join the FCA ).
If the car's not on the NEVDIS database then it gets complicated - was the car imported for off road use only (race car ?) . Victoria has different rules to the rest of Australia, historic cars are on "permits" not concessional registration. The VIC permit scheme doesn't require the car to be on the NEVDIS database so there is a risk in buying a "permit" car from Victoria in that the car may not be eligible for concessional of full registration in another state, either because the taxes haven't been paid or the car has never been complied for ADR's
If the car had full Victorian rego then it would be simple to transfer it to another state.

If you're looking for a "blue slip", I've used Artarmon Tyrepower 17 Whiting Street, ARTARMON 2064 9966 9950 a few times and found them to be very reasonable, e.g. sympathetic to older cars with inevitable minor oil leaks.

But as MIke says, historic rego is the way to go and you'll only need a pink slip for that. I recommend Castle Automotive in Artarmon 9439 3797. Tom (the owner) knows Ferraris and again is very fair.

    Hi Mike,
Well spotted. The car is on historic plates and hasn't had full VIC rego. I'm now going to try get the details to check out NEVDIS...
Further to that, yes have joined The Club, and yes, currently planning to go with Historic reg in NSW.
    Cheers,
    Peter

He did my 308 and issued a full compliance certificate.

He is certified by the RMS for VSCCS. But the car must be original with no modifications
Takes about a day to do but you need to book in advance and have all documents on the car otherwise it will take longer.
