How much are tags and how often in NE?

My 1999 355 just got renewed here in OR till July 2012 for $130. My 2010 Lexus has tags good till July 2014 (Brand new cars get 4-year tags in OR) for $130, also.

Get ready for sticker shock my friend. I haven't lived in Nebraska for a few years but it will be much higher than what you are used to paying. I noted in your other thread that your boss is paying your moving expenses. See if she will cover your registration as well. :)

There is absolutely NO reason not to leave your cars registered in Oregon, with OR state plates. Then just drive them in NE (or wherever you move to) that way, until they expire. Then the wheel tax/etc will be less since the cars will be older at that point in time. I personally would do it no other way.

I will try to call tomorrow and find out.

As long as you keep your Oregon's DL, keep your OR plates.
You have to have proof of insurance if/when you go to register the car.

PS - plates alone on my 2008 Accord were $355.00 this year.

    A 2005 355 is $875.00 - I called downtown.

That would be odd, since there were no 355's made in 2005... ;)

    Let me explain.

I called downtown, and I don't know 355's at all, so I asked the guy what a 2005 355 would run. (Yes, somewhere I missed that Blam had a 1999, or whatever)
Now I know why the tax guy could not find it on his computer...
Anyway, he looked up what a 2005 car that stickered for $80,000 would cost, and that is what he based his estimate on.
As I said, I don't know the 355 line at all, nor the costs, or years, my only interests are the 360-TR-512 lines.

I think we all can agree - it ain't gonna be cheap.

Do you have to have front plates on your autos in NE?

Oh, and based on NE's computer thingy registration for my 355 is only gonna be like $400/year. My LExus is going to be $800!!!!

So, due to the fact that Oregon gives you 4-year plates on a brand-new car (For less than $150 TOTAL), I will not be putting NE tags on that car any time soon.

My 355 plates expire July 2012 so we'll see what happens there....

MY ODL doesn't expire until Dec 2015, so I am just going to use my brother's address here. :)

Smart man, I'm glad you read my first statement.
Yes, front plates are required - but not heavily enforced.
