Reinstalling a 308 oil temp unit.

Hello Gentlemen,

I could use some advise on reinstalling an oil temp unit in my 79 308GTB.

I know it should seem effortless, but my question is: how many turns inward, as a few of the threads are actually visible outside the engine block. Also is it best to lubricate the unit's threads w/engine oil prior to installation. What direction should the electrical spade face, vertical or horizontal? And how tight should it be screwed in? Any tips are appreciated!
