Anyone have a relay diagram for 1979 308 gt4? thxs
I found this workshop manual. Didn't see if it has relay diagram. Take a look, might have it. http://www.cannell.co.uk/Ferrari_Workshop_Manuals/308GT4_workshop%20service%20manual.pdf There is that Jenkins site, not sure what the link is but someone else might or search here. Jeff
Thxs. My car has more relays than the diagram shows or the back of the electrical panel in the car shows.
You might need to "meld" information from more than 1 source to figure things out -- I can't recall ever seeing a specific OM for the late '78-'79 US 308GT4. Your '79 US 308GT4 is closely related to the '78-'79 US 308GTB/S electrically so (OM 150/78) might be the best schematic to try to match things up with (e.g., only the very late carbed 308 have the seatbelt warning buzzer relay, and rather than fixing any of the figures they might have just modified the SPC parts list to account for the change -- which makes it almost impossible for anyone to figure out later ). But don't take 150/78 as exact either -- also study the 308GT4 information you do have available and see if you can figure out the additions.
I just went through all the relay and fuse wiring on my GT4 (1977). I found that none of the 6 or so GT4 wiring diagrams matched my car, close but not exact. I ended up looking at the first USA diagram and followed the subsequent revisions. Only after mapping what I thought the wiring should be and tracing my wiring, then comparing the two, did my wiring started to make sense. In my case this whole adventure started with the infamous melting fuse box. I made my own Birdman replacements. The main problem was that somewhere back in time a few of the high load wires were plugged into the wrong positions on the fusebox which doubled the load on some of the fuses. I straightened everything back out and in the process I mapped out all the wiring to and from the fuses and relays. All the wiring appears to be unmolested factory original (other than the aforementioned, and now corrected, botched fuse box connections) so the following list is correct for my car. The fuse box and relay layout for series 2 and 3 is different than the diagram above as they are all under the dash. The relay board should have 2 horizontal rows with 6 relays in each row. Below them is a large connector with another relay to the left. To the right , on my car, is a vacant relay position. In addition behind the fuse boxes is another relay for the Hazard lights. Bear in mind that cars for different markets have similar but not identical wiring layouts. For example, US spec cars have seatbelt interlocks and buzzers while Euro cars have rear fog lights. Here are what my relays control, reading left to right. top row: ignition resister bypass, L rad fan, R rad fan, R rad fan w/AC on, pwr windows, horn middle row: park/marker lights, high (main) beam headlights, brake failure warning, headlight motor control, L headlight mtr., R headlight mtr. bottom row: brake fluid/failure, large connector, empty space I hope this helps
