Hello all, I am looking to purcahse a 2002 Maserati Spyder and I was wondering if you could share your experience and knowledge regarding the reliability issues and things to look for when purchasing a car of this year. Any updates to make sure the car has had done? Also, can anyone please share the average service costs I should expect to encounter. Thanks for your help in advance.

I have a 2004 coupe and have had no real problems with the car. The only minor issues ive had is the auto gas filler tab bent slightly and I couldnt get the gas lid open. The little reverse shifter popped off once too.

When I had a clutch change, they messed with the software a bit and I had to get them to re flash it back to the old version. There was a vibration that developed immediately after the clutch change, around 4,000 rpms, that they eventually corrected. With the engine software flash, its not exactly the way it used to be, but supposedly it runs more efficiently. The 2002 model, if it hasnt been updated, should have a bit more rawness to it.

Ive had my car for 3 years now and the clutch was about 3 grand. Services were pretty minor expenses. I'm having a major service done next week and will post some of the costs for you. only major expenses so far was the clutch (about 18,000 miles) and a set of tires (about 18,000 as well but totally smooth).
I would also suggest you install a tubi before buying the car. make it part of the purchase and get a better install price.
