I'm thinking about cashing out of this San Diego market and moving to Charlotte. My buddy just moved there and lives in Huntersville. I had no idea Charlotte's downtown was so "happening?!" It's very similar to San Diego.

And the home prices, you have to be kidding me. $400k and it looks like i can get something between 3700-4000 sq ft, wow! Those would be about 1.7 mil here in So Cal.

Sure i'll be giving up the best weather in the country amongst the car capital as well but considering that i'm 30 i could really accelerate my retirement. I have a Viper SRT10 now but i'm telling you if i moved to Charlotte a 360 coupe would be a sure thing. Ok ok, maybe a G ride, haven't decided.

So, what are the "hot" areas? I'm assuming Lake Norman is a promising area. What are the "best" areas, if it's to much $ i'll work my way back.

    Thanks!!!!

    Frank

Yeah, but the views of "wildlife" aren't nearly the same as San Diego and around UCSD. ;)

Let me guess... this friend of yours has a boxer and a P-bug? His name rhymes with Skeeter? Hmm...

Making the sme move this month from DC. Some times it's simly time for a change. My car buddies in DC tell me i'll have to sell the
Ferrari & get a Monte Carlo, but I think it's just sour grapes.
    Happy hunting

Us North Carolinians will appreciate the influx of Ferraris. The thing about North Carolina is that you can drive five miles out of town and you are out with the country folks that are so well known outside the south. When you are in the city, you won't notice the difference. Around where I live, the car of choice is BMW or Mercedes.

You should check out the Lake Norman area. The closest cities are Mooresville/Davidson/Huntersville. If you're into the country club scene check out the Point Lake and Golf Club or the Peninsula (both on Lake Norman and managed by the same management group).

It really depends on what you're looking for, where you will be working, and how far you're willing to commute. IM or email me (AIM- TravisC83) if you have specific questions, I grew up in the area.

I kinda did something kinda sorta the same....

Moved from NJ (ok, not really the same, you're moving from perfect weather, but it the cost of living thing that's similar....). I sold a townhouse in NJ for what I bought a 4000 sq ft brand new, brick house with .85 acres of property, boat dock, etc for.

I live in NW Charlotte, on Mt. Island Lake - neighborhood is Overlook. 12 miles from downtown and NO I-77 traffic hassles - 15 minutes to downtown, 20 minutes to Lake Norman. Perfect.

Alas,...no F-car yet. Got a collection of Porsches though. ONe of these days the CAFE group will get me over to the dark side....just a matter of time whenever my business makes enough money...

Don't you have a Porsche board that you could post on???? :) You're referencing a twin turbo vs. a 308 QV. Now would you consider that a fair match? I told you in your other thread that I'm waiting for a re-match but w/ your 993 and my 348. Who's your Daddy.....

I do not deny that the 348 is a fast car....as I said in another thread, speed is in the driver, not necessarily the car...

And who asked who to be his driving instructor again Little Man???

I've never doubted your skills as a driver or instructor. In fact I'm envious of what you've accomplished on and off the track. Can't wait to have you impart those skill sets to me. But back to our daily drivers; bring out the 993 and some white gloves for when I'm done with you, you shall officially become my "shine boy"......;)
