Many of the flight plans, star charts and assorted other doodads related to Apollo 11's lunar round-trip are housed in a Fort Worth warehouse.

And here's an open secret: Anybody can see them, because these documents are held by the Southwest regional office of the National Archives and Records Administration. Anybody who wants to make contact with space history needs only to make a phone call and a drive to touch, gently, an item that Neil Armstrong almost surely held on the journey to his "one giant leap for mankind."

To see these materials is to connect with a time not so long ago when legible handwriting, Velcro and simple, neat sketches were among the highest-tech tools of rocket science.

The documents came from the Johnson Space Center in Houston mission control for much of America's spaceflight history. They are among the hundreds of millions of archived items in a low-slung warehouse set amid cornfields south of downtown Fort Worth.

Most of the documents are probably of interest only to particularly detail-oriented historians: letters, reports, plans and logbooks from NASA engineers, contractors and government officials. But a few of the items still carry the Moon Race mojo of those years when astronauts were among the world's best-known heroes...

Wonder if they have the Warren Commission docs

Article says one has to have a list of docs you want to see. Not just sort through the cabinets yelling "Eureka !".

I'm up for a trip.
