Remember when losers put pieces of cardboard on their bicycle front forks with clothes pins so the spokes would rub against them?
Click, click, click, click,....yawn. To be really cool, you tied a balloon to the fork and folded it back into the spokes for a really cool Harley Davidson sound as the spokes rubbed against the balloon......chubb, chubb, chubb, chubb,.....

It lasted about 2 minutes until the balloon broke! Buy hey,....it sounded cool for 2 minutes!!!

Yeesshhh... I still have fore arm bruises from those things.

Holy cow. These are some great memories.
    - I still have my parents console stereo system (gutted to make a speaker system)
    - I still have my Etch-A-Sketch

Ha ha. Already taken, but Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon, Emergency 51, CHiPS

I remember going out with friends from neighboring blocks for a game of baseball on the street corners

Remember when Christmas actually started after Thanksgiving

Remember using the gravel portion of the street to make roads for hot wheels cars (maybe that was just the block I lived on)

    Remember weeble wobbles

Remember Lego bricks and that it took thought before replicating anything within eyeballs view

    Remember jacks

Remember when only doctors were basically the only profession that had anything resembling a pager

Remember Saturday morning cartoons (Bugs Bunny kicked tail! Never realized how much classical music and opera was there.)

Remember School House Rock (TV taught me a few things when it was on. I also remember when TV signed off at night and played the star spangled banner when signing on).

Remember when skate boards had metal or big plastic wheels and was for transportation, and any 'tricks' was you actually falling on your *ss?

When you could read every number on the gas pump when filling a tank instead of this blur that stops at an obscene total?

Pinball machines had mechanical score counters that maxed out @ 99999 instead of today's umptenth million top scores? (related to gas pumps?)

The colored version of 'Space Invaders' was actually a sheet of plastic with horizontal colored stripes over the b/w monitor?

Going snow skiing in leather boots attached to the ski with springs? Afterwards, parents running the car so the exhaust heat would thaw the laces so you could untie the boots?

And my favorite memory: Remember that archaic 'imperial' or 'British' units of measurement before the US converted to the metric system? Ahhh, the good 'ol days...

The Skimpy reminded me of the Odd Rod trading cards, they were great! Drooling monsters driving crazy Dodge Dusters with huge tunnel rams well over the windshield and a tall Hurst shifter!

also....PeeChee folders. They were great to doodle on in a boring class. Have not seen them in a long time.

    How about....

    San Francisco riding gear jeans

    Square knit ties

    Pong

Candy stores with penny candy (that really only cost one cent!)

Making ramps out of whatever you could find to jump your bikes over

Playing street hockey or kickball IN THE STREET

Yelling "CAR" when a car was coming down the street and having to move the goal out of the way

Station wagons with rear windows that would roll down

Fighting over who got to ride in the "way back" so you could look at the other cars behind you

    .

For some strange reason, I watched an episode of the Thunderbirds a couple mopths ago. For mid 60's character animation, they did a pretty good job!
