    Depailler's career was cut tragically short when he was killed in a testing accident at Hockenheim in 1980. His death was a shock to the world of motorsport, and he is still remembered today as one of the sport's greatest drivers.

    Many years back I raced against Patrick's son Loic in Canadian Formula Ford. Fast driver but too raw and unpolished to be a champion.
