so my car only came with one black beepy remote and two keys. I wanted to get an original red one and another black one. Anyone have any ideas on how this can be done. Ive heard stories of having to get a new ECU, replacing the immobilizer, only paying 500 bucks and its done. Any ideas? Thanks.

Call your local dealer. Honestly, that's the easiest route. Be prepared to wait.

Oh yeah... you have the key card, right?

Ouch! Sounds like rough news on your car (what sort of previous buyer loses those sorts of things?!).

Bypassing an immobilier on an M2.7 car shouldn't be a big deal...on the M5.2's though, it might be problematic unless Ferrari has a simple trick for such (maybe duplicate the 355 Challenge cars, *if* any came in M5.2 guise without an alarm).

All I have is that one black key fob. What would the access card look like? Someone told me its just 500 bucks to get a new system. That's fine with me but I don't want to spend 5 grand for a whole new setup. Any ideas?

Daniel, are you talking about that small piece of paper(smaller than you social sec. card) that has the code that the key makers use to cut new keys???

Shivam, look in the pockets of your owners pouch

There's some good threads around on the topic, I too have only one black key fob. And that does piss me off hearing about so many people picking up cars missing these things - why keep them?! They don't even say 'Ferrari' on the dang things! Some guys were able to clone a black key fob, but I'm not sure if they were ready to offer the service (and it's a leap of faith sending out your one good key fob to have the circuit board operated on!)

As I recall it was over $2k+ for a new alarm ECU setup, but rumor has it Ferrari dropped the price (how rare is that?) to $700.

If all else fails you can start the car if you have the 4 digit pin (on a piece of paper that came with the car, luckily I at least have that). But it requires you to turn the key so many times for each digit, apparently in practice it's not easy to get this to work. I should try it sometime just in case...

True. Like I said, go contact a dealer. Take your title, registration, proof of identity, three chickens, and your first-born male child.

It's not a conspiracy -- Ferrari is indeed trying to protect owners by making this a wee bit cumbersome. You wouldn't want a goofball like me selling red remotes to just anybody, would you?

thats no problem. I can provide any documents they wish and am willing to wait. The main concern is the cost. Can anyone confirm a cost charged by ferrari? I have heard reports from 500 to 5000 dollars.

The KEY pin code for keys and the REMOTE pin code are 2 different things. Most guys have a copy of the key cut code, but not the remote code. I have the key cut PIN and was told by 2 different dealers I can't have a remote reprogramed with the key cut PIN code...

The used black fobs are on Ebay for anywhere from $40-$100 -I called 3 places to find out how to reprogram that fob to work on my car--No go!! Without the original remote pin code. There is a person on Fchat who can reprogam the black fobs by taking it apart and cloning it to your good fob. With the weather gets bad and I can't drive my car I am sending him 2 extra fobs I have to be cloned. I have his name and address if you want it...

Where would you normally find the REMOTE PIN Code?

I went thru this and it isn't cheap but it's not $2K either. It was about $700 or so for the parts but it took some time to get them so be patient. I did it with FoW and they were awesome but they did need to do their due diligence to make sure it was legit before we could order the parts. I had to provide my title, proof of purchase, etc. which was sent to FNA. Once confirmed, they sent the parts. If I remember, total labor was around another $700 or so bringing the total up to aorund $1500 out the door.

I have been told it was on a small piece of paper that came with the car when bought new. I checked all my paperwork, every page in the owners manual, etc with no luck..Mine is gone forever...One of the unforunate things about purchasing a used car...I even knew of this before I bought my car and asked the owner I bought it from and he said he never remembered every having it either. I am the 4th owner, so the first or second owner must of lost it....Luclily for me-I have one black and the master red fob. I am just missing a extra black one. So I bought 2 off Ebay and will have them cloned. So I will have 4 working remotes when done...I will put three of them away so they are there way down the road when I sell it...

still not unreasonable. As long as its under 2000, its worth it for the security of knowing you have a backup incase something happens to one of the keyfobs.

I have yet to look and see if I have one.......... I did however find the standard issue 355 hair dryer and the pop up lighted vanity mirror on the first day of inspection ;)! Now missing that would have been a deal breaker :p!!
