Since I got my first ticket in my 355 within minutes of owning it - I'm trying to decide which radar detector to install. I have read the many posts about the V1 but I prefer to get a remote radar installation where there are no ugly black boxes stuck to the winshield. My 911 has this unit from Escort (9500 CI) which has been excellent. http://www.escortradar.com/passport9500ci-details.php

I went to get one installed in my 355 and we cant seem to find a place to locate the front eye without cutting up some metal (which I would never do). I have heard of 355's using K40's which are remote installs but I am not fond of that unit (too many false signals). My guess is they have to install their front eye as well - anyone know where it goes? Anyone else have a remote unit installed on a 355? Pics?

I didn't buy my 355 new but it does have an installed front and rear radar detector. I know the rear sensor is in a license plate holder but I have never even looked for the front sensor. Give me a few minutes to find it and I'll post a pic.

Well my camera is dead and I need to go buy batteries. Funny thing is I found the front sensor. It is inside the front facia below the drivers side headlight but nothing has been drilled or altered. It works just fine so I assume that you don't really need it to be unobstructed by the plastic. I will get you a pic later.

I looked at the 9500 last week and like it except for the $2000 price installed.
This morning I was on 820 and barely got away after a spirited run I saw brake light in front of me at the top of a hill and there was one of NRHs finest with a laser.
It seems as though ( here in the DFW area) most tax collectors have their officers using laser only. I can't remember the last time I knowingly got clocked by radar but I know I am getting lased once a week.
Does the V1 have laser scrambling capabilities? If it doesn't it is nothing more than a paperweight on a dash.

Got the pics. I looked at my car in that spot and it seems like the unit would be surrounded by metal in that position? I dont know much about radar so it must work that way?
