I've looked over the WSM and don't see how to get to the guts of the instrument panel. This is an '84 Cabriolet. The PO changed the odometer and I want to remove it to send it out to have it corrected for the correct mileage, as I have the old odometer to reference. Can anyone give me some help on getting the odometer out? Also, any reason I can't drive the car while the repairs are being done? I can put the old one back in temporarily if needed, say for the dash lights.
    Thanks,
    Steve

The odometer should come out fairly easily. First remove the black plastic bezel around it; pry it gently out, and be careful not to scratch it. This should expose four screws. Undo the four screws and the odometer dial should come free straight out of the dash.

It's pretty easy to pop them in and out, I don't see why you wouldn't drive the car during the repair.
