    Hi all !

I going have my 348 painted. The workshop manual says you must remove your ECUs when getting into a paint oven

Any of you have paint your car and remember if the ECUs were removed?
Which one, both monotronic or should I also have the A/C one removed?

    Any other advise?

    Thank you for yours inputs.

It's a good idea to remove the ECUs especially if the manual says so....Better safe than sorry....besides it's very easy to remove them (behind the seats, attached to the firewall)....

I didn't know the 348 has an AC ECU as well....where is that located??

Normaly there should be no problem with it. I didn't had any ecu failure on any car wich was repainted. Different story if you weld something then you should disconnect the ecus. If the oven is the problem for the ecu then it should also be a problem for any other electronic circuit in the car. Because its all basicly the same. So you have to remove all ecus a/c , abs, engine ecus, immobilizer, alertsystem ecu, radio. But i never heard of a problem with any of them in the paint oven. Remove the parts you can remove easy (abs and engine ecus) enough and let the rest in.

Ask your paint shop what temperature they bake at....

but usually, it's just utterly impractical to remove all ECU's or other parts effected by heat.
