Hi I'm having electrical issues on my 2002 360 and from what i've been reading it might be the master switch.I removed the covers in the bonnet and found a white membrane covering access to the master switch. My question is which way is the best way to remove the master switch.Remove the top windshield wiper cover or can I get at it from the passenger wheelwell?Or do I have to remove a belly pan to get at it.Any suggestions would be greatly appreaciated. Thanks

No idea how to replace it, but it costs about $500 in parts. My dealer replaced mine, threw in the labor, they felt guilty about the amount of time it took to do minor body work, so it can't be to bad if they comp'd me. I did notice the battery drain much less after it was replaced and I could actually go a bit of time without the battery tender connected.

    good luck,

Loosen battery both clamps befor you do anything !

Find them and loosen the two screws # 12 which hold the switch in place ... you cannot clean inside of it, if failing it should be easier just to get a new switch imo.

But maybe the contacts are corroded or simply loose ...:D

Tell us what you found and how you solved it please ... make photo's !

You will have to remove the panel behind the front trunk and beneath the front window to best get at it. You'll see the accelleration sensor there as well.

Class in session: So does the #9 cable go to the battery negative terminal and the other cable grounded to the body? That's the wiring for this switch? If it is then how can such a simple switch cost so much even by F car standards? Some of the best aftermarket cutoff switches cost less than $100 (I've got one on my old Porsche).

    That's exactly the case.

It's actually a really nicely done cutoff switch. The crappy ones you find on ebay for $10 are bigger and more crude, not quite as small. Does that justify Ferrari pricing? No. But OTOH.. does anything in the car justify the markup? :)

    Thanks Curt.

Holy crap. I've just added another item to clean/re-furbish before puting her to bed for this winter. Nothing a wire brush and some tlc can't cure.

    Thanks for the picture Phil

Voicey did a very good article on replacing the switch ....
Ferrari 360 & F430 Battery Isolator Switch | Aldous Voice

And if you do a bit Googling you can find a lot of battery isolation switches. Voicey shows one with a removable key. If I were doing it, I would not want the removable key version and there are many good ones available.

Here is one I think looks good and I have purchased items from Waytek before ... good outfit. The switch here is $50 and is rated at 250A. They also have ones that looks like the removable key version for $10. Sure as hell beats the cost that Ferrari wants for a simple switch.

250A Emergency Stop Switch, Battery Disconnect

    Regards,

    Steve

One feature of that switch is that it is a twist to close the switch and then you push the center button to turn off or open. It is not only a battery isolator switch, but also an emergency off switch.

I have fixed old switch and now is fully working,. You are right that is quiet dificult to remove so many parts and srws to get acces to switch and cables. You made it comfy! Cood idea placed inside of car!
