Oh woe is me! I tried to remove my 1990 Mondial t's steering wheel tonight. I busted teh **** out of the hub and had to end up drilling holes in it and hitting it with a cold chisel to split it open to get it off. Ferrari only sells the whole wheel for $500. Actually that is less than I expected, but more than I want to spend on a wheel right now. A guy on eBay has an "ALL Mondial" Momo style hub for $75, but I am not sure that it will fit my t.

I can tell you what to not do: do not put a puller's jaws on the big thick ring of metal at the base of the hub. That metal is cast Al or pot metal and will crack. Tomorrow I am going to call Momo and see what a real Momo hub sells for. I have read some threads here that say to hit the center shaft with a brass drift while pulling on the wheel. I don't understand that. Wouldn't that just mess up the steering box, or does the shaft have a slidy part that allows longitudinal play, so that you knock it loose when you hit it?

I have an idea of a way I think will work pretty good. Next time. I'll write it up tomorrow.

I cannot help but think this thread title sounds like a Grateful Dead song title.

Why were you removing it in the first place?

    Guilty as charged... :D

    >> why remove

My combo switch is acting up. Driving down the road at night, I dim the headlights, and they get really dim! That's because they retract. Then I have to frantically flick the switch on and off to get them to pop back up before I hit something or something hits me...
