    Hello,
I've searched and I get many 308 results. Maybe same dunno...

I need to replace of my vent switch from the center console. I removed the screws beneath the ash tray but I'm hesitant to lift up... Doesnt seem like it wants to budge.

Am I on the right track here? I was also thinking of removing the whole center console too.
    Which way is correct?

    Thanks for you input. John.

I've got mine out at the moment.

There are four fixing points that join the top plate (with all the switches in it) to the main console. Two under the ashtray and two under the bank of four switches at the back. Those in turn are also held in by some screws from underneath - so in other words you have to unscrew the whole console from the floor & turn it over in order to do anything/release the top plate or any of the switches etc. For that you'll need to remove the seats for a start (4 hex bolts each).

Also be very carful with the aircon control - there is a metal capilliary line that goes right to the back of the switch so don't pull it around too much.

The vent switches are just held in by a couple of tabs so you should be able to get those out pretty easily once you have turned the console on its side.

You *might* be able to lever them out (without removing the console) with a small scewdriver inserted under the end right in the middle (where the tab is) , but I'm not sure I'd risk it - better to work the tab thing from underneath.

    Thanks Iain,
Do I also remove the seat belt latches on both sides too?
Do I also have to remove the divider between driver and passenger foot wells (the portion of center console that extends beneath dash)?

    I appreciate your assistance, John.

Seat belt latches stay, the front part of the divide is only secured to the floor by 4 screws so take it out first.

    Iain,
Thank you very much!! You were a BIG help..
I have my console loose ready to be removed, after I head to Sears for a 17mm wrench to remove shift knob...
Also, thanks to those who posted "how to remove the shift knob" in the past, also very helpful..
    John.

No problem. Just to check, do disconnect the battery before you get into the wiring under there...!

I have had my console out 3 times so far, and thats what I do. Taking my time I can have both seats and the console out in about 45 minutes. I slide the seats to there most forward position and remove the 2 rear bolts first then side the seats back enough to expose the front bolts. Have had to work on the drivers vent switch once and the fog light switch twice. After I found out how easy it is to take the seats out, I take then out twice a year now when I do my major interior cleaning/leather conditioning which is usually just before the 2 major cars shows that I attend. So much easier to work on the seat & sides of the console with the seats out. Good luck fixing your problem.
