Any trick to removing the door panels? Looks fairly straight forward but thought I would ask before doing.

Do the door lock knobs unscrew?

BTW, the Leatherique projects on the seat is amazing. I haven't dyed the seats yet, only cleaned with and treated with their oil and they already look an feel great! I'll put picks up and recap when I finish the interior redo.

oh yea, anyone used any carpet dye they would recommend that leaves the carpet soft? THe carpet is in good shape, just a bit faded.

Removing the door panels is easy. Unscrew the small screws on each panel that attach the panel to door with a philips screwdriver, unscrew the door locks by hand or if they are tight use a large phillips but be careful to not scratch or remove any of the plastic. Remove the two screws on the plate covering the door latch mechanism that will give you to access the large door handle screws located inside the casing. Once inside the casing you can unhook the opening mechanism and free the door from the panel. Once you have removed all the screws and attachments to the door, you just lift the door panel up and off of it's perch on the upper window sill. Caveat... I have an 86 328 where the door handle behind and inside the door handle. If your 328 is a newer model, I believe the door handle mechanism located on the arm rest. Sounds complicated, but the easiest thing to do is remove all the screws and everything that attaches the panel to the door. Remember where everything goes to get it back on. Don't rush and scratch your panel.

Thanks very much. Mine is an 86 328 so it should match your instructions perfectly.

Seems like all of the posts on here for removing a door panel deal with the second generation of doors with the pull latch to open the door is on the front of the arm rest. I have an 86 328 where the pull latch is hidden in front of the gun handle door pull.

Are the instuctions the same. My latch does have 2 screws on the rectangular pull.

Any help would be appreciated. Dealing with map pockets that flop open like Mick Jagger's lips.

    Thanks

    Brad

Timely thread, about to do the same thing to my car. Only Mick Jaggers lips look firm compared to my map pockets! :)

PLEASE take and post pictures, ESPECIALLY of the spring replacement. I've paid to have the drivers side done, but am going to attempt to do the passenger side myself.

I removed the door panel a while ago. Easy just take your time.
Now; the two springs holding the cover in place. I tried to reform - rebend - readjust this springs.
Once I had the spring back in place they (actually only one) jumped rigth out again.
Anybody lucky to find replacement or has a tip how to get repro springs?

Just removed my drivers side panel as the leather piping around the panel had came away & got jammed in the door lock.. ouch what a mess! it is currently with a leather guy being repaired! I can't believe how easy it was to remove. it took me approx 5 mins! Let's hope that it goes back on just as easy!

Whilst the panel is off I have decided to replace & upgrade the door speakers which are now quite old & do not give very good sound! I also have a little dent in the door which can now be repaired by a dent removal specialist!

And finally I will give the panel a good clean before refitting!

    Help please!
I'm new to the Ferrari world, but I have had more than 50 Porsches and I have pretty good repair skills and tools. My Ferrari is a 1988 328 GTS. I'm trying to fix a botch job on the door speakers by a previous owner (PO). The PO put extra large speakers in the doors and that required cutting a larger diameter hole and adding thickness to the front of the door card -- I think they added two thicknesses of 3/4 Plywood. They actually interfered with the door sill plate and hindered proper alignment and door closing. I started on the passenger door, and I have most everything removed to lift the door card out for repair -- except I cant seem to raise it! I slid a 12-inch long feeler blade between the door card and the inside metal door to check for obstructions, and I think I only have an obstruction at the door latch handle. I do not have the flip-out door pocket removed and it doesn't look like I need to remove it. I also do not have the door latch mechanism removed, and I'm not sure how to un-hook it to complete the removal of the door card. Any help would be appreciated. Oh, I do have an original 1988 Ferrari parts manual, and it appears that my car is mid to late 1988 75xxx chassis number.
    HELP PLEASE

I think these are the instructions you need? You don't mention what style of door latch mechanism you have...

"Remove the two screws on the plate covering the door latch mechanism that will give you to access the large door handle screws located inside the casing."

NO! Do not take "some" pictures, take tons of pictures and in a logical sequence, follow the line of screws and the mechanisms front to back. Granted the door isn't that complicated but better safe than sorry.

I'm interested in your product and process of seat cleaning/restoration, and what color/type of dye you use for the carpet on the door panels. Mine is a bit faded as well.

I was not aware of it being that old. It showed up as a newer/revisited conversation in the 308/328 thread. I'm still interested in my two questions, however.

I use Leather Magic recently on my seats and console with excellent results. I sent them a sample and the color match was very good. You need to follow the instructions and be VERY careful to apply the material evenly.

Thank you. Do you have before and after photos? Funny - my seats look light tan in the photo, but they are a dark/rich tan.
