    Hej,

I have a little babyboy who wants to sit in his new seat up front in my airbag equiped 456.
Do anyone have instructions for how to disconnect this? is it safe to just disconnect the cable to the airbag?

Joakim- On the 575M, there was an option for an airbag disconnect switch on the right hand side of the dash. You might check and see if it could be adapted to your car.

If you disconnect the connector, you are likely to have a continuous airbag warning lamp, but difficult to see any other problem. Probably best not to screw with it yourself and let a mechanic who knows Ferraris do it for you.

I'll check with Ferrari but by looking at the picture it looks like you could add switch 28 and resistor 15 to fake the airbag itself, it might even be that just adding the resistor would do the job. To acctuallt remove the aibag cable only takes 10 minutes as it is accessible from under the glove compartment.

The parts are really cheap so it should be no biggie.

Might be easier to remove the offending light bulb from the dash - 30 min job if you take your time...

Spoke to Ferrari today and they said they weren't allowed to touch the airbags...

I wonder if anyone else has any ideas how to fake one?? will a resistor to the trick or does the airbag contain any intelligent logic that acctually talks the airbag ecu??

Also, how safe is a disconnected airbag?? does anyone know..

The passenger airbag has now been removed. I exchanged the unit for a dummy made of aluminum dressed with black leather and finished of with the '456GT' non airbag motif.

The airbag controller was fooled by adding a 5 ohm resistor in it's place = dead simple.

Nothing was destroyed or discarded on the car so the airbag car be remounted when the day comes for my little baby boy to start sitting in the backseat.

I added 2 pictures of the end result.
