Removing F430 Emergency Fuel Door Release Knob

There should be a small u-shaped silver colored pin that enters from the round part of the handle and slides over the cable. Take a small sharp pointed awl and pry it out about half way and the handle should slide off the solid pin on the end of the cable that the pin prevents the handle from coming off the cable. Hope this helps.

 

^ It is a tiny tiny little thing, like a cotter almost. Just yank it out.

So I slid it half-way out, see attached picture, and still cable won't release from T-handle?

Yes, I figured I had to do that when I peered into it with a flash light. I am missing the part that keeps the other side from falling off.

There is a small e-clip that keeps the cable attached to the engine panel. Your local hardware should have one.
