    Hey guys

Does anyone know how to remove the Ferrari lettering on the keyfob? I'm trying to paint the shell, but body shop doesn't know how to remove the letters without possibly breaking it?

I've attached an image for reference. Thanks in advance!

Scrap the letter with an exacto knife, sand the case properly, then use Tamiya Putty to smooth out the surface, and finaly send it to the body shop? (Tamiya Putty is super thin "bondo")

A cleaner option would be to mill the FOB. Would be a 10 minutes job for your local machinist.

Hi raemin. Thanks for the suggestion. So are these letters placed on there with glue? Because I don't seem to see a plastic snap-in on the inside of the case

You might try some gentle heat from a heat gun or hairdryer on the logo while prying it off with the exacto knife. It is probably attached with some trim adhesive. Be very careful and don't melt the fob. Surface milling would remove/damage the indentations for the lettering in the plastic before removing the letters.

If you're trying to paint everything BUT the logo, why not leave it in place and mask it off?

There are some very flexible masking products that are sort of like a very thin metallic tape. They will completely conform to the contours of the script, and then you can carefully run an Exacto blade in the space between the letters and the body of the key fob giving you a perfect mask. After painting you can just peel off the tape. It does take some practice but a good body shop should be able to do it quickly and effectively.

I would rather do that than risk damaging the script while removing it.

Or you just go to aliexpress and buy a blank knock of key, keep the shell and scrap the rest...

IMO, it would be easier to use a paint on mask over the chrome areas and spray the fob. Brush the masking liquid on the chrome areas with a fine brush. Clean the area with an exacto knife. Then peal it off after the paint dries. Any bleed areas carefully scrap off with an exacto.

    Here's an example.

Like anything painted, its garbage in, garbage out. The better the mask, the better the outcome.

I don't know the exact construction of the fob but if its a separate part it might be attached on the inside instead of glued. But its hard to tell. If its glued, its going to be difficult to get off without breaking.
