I am in the process of removing my center console in my 89 328GTS. I have everything ready to come out except for the knob on the a/c switch. I loosened the set screw just as I did for the other knobs but it doesn't want to come off. I removed the set screw totally thinking that would help, I slid dental floss under the knob and put what I thought was enough pressure where it should have come off. Is the a/c knob any different from the others? I hope and pray the previous owner didn't glue the knob on. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a 1987 328. The set screw should be the only thing holding the knob in place. The knob fits tightly over the post. I had to pry fairly hard to get several of the knobs off in my car. Could be a bit of crud sticking the knob on. I don't think you can do much, other than pry it off.

I don't recall having to do anything except loosen the set screw and pry, either.

You might try turning the control to the end to see if the knob will turn independent of the shaft.
If the knob is hung up on a burr raised by the set screw, turning the knob on the shaft might free it.

Set screw holds it. As I recall when I removed mine there was allot of crud under it so I had to use a soft nylon pry tool and gently give it a nudge.

Thanks for all the input guys. After gently pulling turning it finally did come off. Set screw was the only thing holding it on. All the other knobs came off pretty easily.
