removing outside rear view mirror glass 550 98

I need to remove the outside rear view mirror glass to be able to access the mirror motor that needs replacement in my Maranello 550 1998.

I have tried pulling out with my fingers after tilting the glass to the maximum angle but it is not working and I don't want to try too hard for fear of breaking the glass and/or the plastic casing behind.

I remember that in order to put it in, one just need to press and it will click in position.

Is there a proper way to remove the glass?

I guess that opening the clips that hold the glass in position would do it, but they are not reachable from the outside, I think.
