I am in the process of replacing the thermostat switch for the rear A/C; the blue knob with the capillary. In order to snake the capillary to the rear evaporator, I need to remove the center cushion. I have the center console loose and the upper insert of the console raised for access to the switch. However, to snake the capillary I need to remove the soft spongy cushion in the middle. Can anyone describe where the mounting bolts and/or clamps are located? Thanks in advance, I'll check back in the morning.

By the looks of it Ken, you might have to remove the seat cushions to expose the lower side of the spongy armrest to check for fasteners there. It appears that the armrest back is hung like the seat backs w/only a bolt in the lower center to keep them in place, seats held in place in similar fashion.

Yes, you have to remove the two lower seat cushions. Then you will see that the center cushion is a block of foam mounted on a curved piece of aluminum. It has one screw on each side into the trans tunnel. You'll most likely have to remove the rear seat back to get to the hole where the cap tube goes into the trunk. Take the bottoms out first and them you can remove the screws under the bottom of the seat back and slide it up.

    Thanks Mark and Bruce
This is actually better than I thought. If the center cushion was bolted down at the front I was going to have to undo more of the console. I found the rear seat front mount bolts and they are easily accessible. I won't have to remove the seat backs as the hole for the capillary is just right of center behind the center cushion; I can feel it going through the textile material.

I'll let you know how it works out.

You were right, the seat backs had to come out too. Many of the screws were missing, but the only one left in the seat backs needed a nut driver to get loose. I'm doing some cleaning and fixing while the seats are out and I made 16 cents in loose change doing this job! Thanks again; it was just as you said.
