I plan on rejuvenating the seats with Leatherique restoration products. I think it best to bring the seats inside where it is warm for best results on this project. I also want to replace the speakers in the doors by lifting up the lower half of the door panel where the speakers are located. Are there any special tools required and are either a big job?
I have just recently purchased this car. It only has 7,072 miles on it and is in show room condition. Like most all newcomers to FC.com, I am going to have more questions than answers in the begining so I greatly appreciate your advice. I plan on keeping this car for the rest of my life, so in time I plan to help answer some of the questions for the newcomers of the future on this wonderful website.

No special tools required to move the seats, it requires a metric allen head, sorry forgot the size. I've taken my seats without issue.

As far taking the door panel. Others may want to chime in, I personally have not taken it off myself. I had a friend replace my speakers and did not witness how he took the panels off.

Just remove the entire door panel, it is not difficult. Remove all the perimeter screws, the door handle and lift up and off....detach the window switch wires as you do this.

Welcome aboard and congratulations on your new purchase. It sounds like a beauty...some pictures would be nice. I have a 79 and all you need to do to access the speakers is to remove the speaker grill. Yours must be different. BTW if you have a 85 it is referred to as a 308 GTS QV not a 308 GTSi. GTSi/GTBis were produced from 1980 to 82. FYI GTSi had two valves per cylinder whereas the QV's have 4 per cylinder. You probably already know this but just in case.

The fuse cover from my 85'qv says GTSi - the "i" just means injected. (83'-85' were all qv's = 4 valves/cyl)
(please forgive the blurry photo- taken under my car cover in the dark)
