    Hello everyone--

This is my first post as I am about to take delivery on a 1999 550 Maranello (NART blue with beige interior). The car has what I believe to be third-party Scuderia shields as the fenders are not embossed (factory shields are always embossed, yes?). As such, I want to have them removed.

Does anyone have any shop or technique they recommend that will not damage the original paint underneath these shields? I live in southern California and would be willing to drive more than 100 miles to find the right person.

Thanks for any help, and I look forward to becoming an active member of the forum very soon!

Can of worms....unless they look horrible, I would let them be.

If you can remove them successfully, you'll probably need to either put back the proper ones or repaint the fenders.

Welcome and congratulations. You will need to see them but they are typcally attached with tape. You can use a fishing line to cut them loose then remove the sticky with something like goo gone (I am sure someone will have a better choice for this). From there wash, polish, was, drive. All fun.

Use a hairdryer! The heat will soften the glue and you can remove them easily. The residue can then also be wiped off with a cloth. If not, you can try vinegar.
This process worked well on mine - I also wanted to have non-original stickers removed!

That is exactly what I did for the ones on my 355. Just be sure to wash and wax right afterward.

Affirmative on monofilament or dental floss and adhesive remover. Heat may cause damage.
