This is beginning to sound like NASCAR hype, but McLaren and Renault officials have publically stated they will cooperate to stop Ferrari's current F1 domination.

What does this mean, intentional blocking? This is really silly.

Pedro de la Rosa is too busy mowing the lawn to do anything that matters blocking wise...

Kimi is coming to Ferrari next year so he will know better than to block anything...

Alonso has already shown signs of cracking under pressure... so he can block all he wants because the only people he will be blocking are the Toyotas and Fisichella...

    long story short....

In order to block they have to catch Ferrari first... unless they plan on being back markers and being blue flagged! :)

I would not count Mr. Alonzo out so easily...he is still leading the WC by 11 points and he will win again this year and likely be on the podium several other times...so even if MS aka 'the cheater' wins all the remaing races, a win and a few podiums by FA will still keep Alonzo on top...we'll see I suppose...

I don't think they would be working together on something like that as Ferrari by no means has this thing locked up yet. They are in a much better postion now and if anyone can pull it off its Schumacher, but 11 points is still quite a few points to make up.

Cooperating with tire info to/from Michelin would be a likely scenario.

That is correct... as of today's date Renault and FA have the WC "locked up" . Remember, this is not golf, in F1 the higher points wins...

That's ridiculous for so many reasons. First of all, what Ferrari domination? Ferrari has found its way again, but it seems to me that Renault has been the dominant team for the last 18 months. What does Mc Laren stand to gain by this anyway? And like someone else mentioned, what would they do exactly? Sounds like a BS story to me.

I agree. Domination? Not likely. It was obvious that Bridgestone runners had a huge advantage at the German GP. How else could you explain Rubens and Button .. the latter would have been on the podium has his engine not gone off in the last stage of the race.

Maybe it's payback time. MIchelin held all the cards last year except for Indy.

This is just PR hype so that fans don't think that anyone can just walk away with it and they can tune out.

The FIA reportedly informed Renault that the controversial 'mass damper' system can be refitted to its car without fear of retrospective penalty at an upcoming appeal hearing.

McLaren's managing director Martin Whitmarsh also indicated that he will be supporting Renault's quest for championship victory.

He was quoted as saying by Setanta: ''Renault are a strong team and Alonso is a great World Champion.

''There is a common interest - we both want to beat Ferrari in the rest of the season.
    ''

I have no idea why the managing director of a competing team would make such a ludicrous statement. Perhaps he's suggesting that he'll ensure that Kimi and De La Rosa dog it and not finish in front of Alonso. How else could they factor into what happens during the race. Surely he's not suggesting Kimi/Pedro will take Schumaker out, is he?

Very dumb statement...maybe Ralf and Toyota will respond in kind.

If Schumaker wins the remaining races and Alonso takes second, MS is the WC.

He won't unless the FIA manipulates the Championship as they did in 03 and was trying in 1998.

The point was simply that the WC isn't all sewn up yet. MS can win it outright.

Hmm, typical media hogwash. Where does it literally say that McLaren will actually support Renault??? McLaren only says that Renault and McLaren both want to beat Ferrari in the rest of the season. Where does it say they will do this TOGETHER?! Ofcourse they want to beat Ferrari. They want to win too and in order to do so you must beat your opponents and Ferrari are the strongest at the moment. So it's only natural they want to beat Ferrari.

And 1994, when they took Schumacher out for 3 races for what? Passing on a warm up lap. Not to mention throwing out a win for plank wear obviously caused by a spin.

Or in 1989 when they robbed Senna.

Point is that ax swings in every direction. Deal with or find a sport where there is no interferance from the officials.

    PS- it doesn't exist.
