No influence with Merc looking over their shoulders? Have you seen how teams dropped their appeal because of it? And they flat out lied to the FIA about receiving the ducts this year

No doubt Mercedes is probably second most influential with the FIA (or maybe most influential). Can’t understand if RP had the IP for the ducts and the actual ducts all of 2019 what difference do receiving an extra duct shipped late in the year and being received after the holidays makes a difference. They had the knowledge and that can’t be undone.

I did not say one could not have scoops that direct air to the brakes (ala 1990's)
I was trying to ask what would happen if one could see the caliper and rotor in pit stops like back in the 1990's.
There would still be scoops so that the rotors did not overheat, there would not be ducting from the rotor to the outsides of the wheel.

Anybody who is involved in F1 design and engineering saw right through the BS excuse of copying from pictures as implausible.

Tracing Point needed more than pics to design and run their car effectively. I speculated surface data and aero data. Someone is saying they did get this info though in a slightly indirect manner. And this someone is not just a random forum poster going on and on about this ;-)

From the link above. If this is true, I wonder if Renault have more info on this and waiting to spring it at the appeal hearing:

Former team boss claims Racing Point received Mercedes wind tunnel model and show car

Exactly, why go against the ban and then lie about it? And what else have they and Mercedes been lying about? It’s indefensible and if it had been Ferrari there would be calls here and in the media to have them thrown out of F1 altogether

Bottom line is FIA have nothing on Ferrari or they would have penalized them—like they have nothing on teams that are being targeted by new tech directives—but they’ve determined by evidence that tRP fell afoul of the rules and penalized them.

The brake ducts were low-hanging fruit so an easy target. The more egregious accusations of receiving wind tunnel model and full car to scan is harder to prove but the whole pit lane suspects this as they are not dummies and understand that you can’t design a car by simply studying another car and get the performance at the level of the subject car. This same comment was made by multiple rival team personnel who know what they’re talking about.

Maybe The engine trick would have been so embarrassing that Ferrari paid FIA off to keep it out of public knowledge.

Ok, the party is over, the last one turn off the lights.

I suppose the new concorde agreement included some compensation to settle the issue so there was no need to keep the show going.
