I think with ING facing huge losses and receiving government assistance in order to stay afloat, they may be forced to give up their sporting sponsorships, including for the Renault F1 team. Santander is keen to sponsor the team where Alonso is driving, which is why they sponsored McLaren when he moved there from Renault for the 2007 season. If Santander becomes the main sponsor, I think Alonso is going to stay at Renault for a few years at least.

I was thinking the samething reading that earlier today, plus with Massa and Kimi signed with Ferrari through 2010, Santander has made some noises about possibly continuing with McLaren in the foreseeable future, especially if Hamilton wins the Championship this season.
