Certainly not the opinion of the "average" citizen.

I have been following this over the last 45 years.
I am a scientist and an engineer with a minor in economics:: in my opinion it is already too late to save the world.
The last chance to actually prevent a total climate catastrophe was about 15-10 years ago.
And as of today: there is not enough money in the world to fix what we are currently doing.

So: why not just plow forward as if nothing was wrong at all ??

I believe that climate changes are cyclic, and have nothing to do with human intervention. They existed before mankind.

A climate "catastrophe", if it happens, will not affect everyone. On that note, I do nothing about it.

China remains the single biggest problem for C02 emissions.

And the West allowed it to continue by importing their cheaply (coal powered) produced plastic tat.

    Smart !

I am not assigning blame, I am simply pointing out the trajectory the world is on.

    Sure.

Let's not forget that trajectory is the symptom of root cause.

As you say, today we could've been in a different position
