This whole Aston Martin thing is deeply worrying. They are a tiny manufacturer and struggle to turn a profit. They have no leading edge technology of their own and buy it all in. How are they meant to be RBs saviour and bank roll the team? I'm sure the bodywork will look very pretty and the stitching on the steering wheel will be sublime, but how does that make RB any faster???!

Same thought I had. RB are usually pretty astute. I don't think they'd take them on as anything more than a title sponsor.

It does seem like RB got mugged on this Honda deal. They agreed to swap STR to Honda AND lend Sainz to Renault, and right after Renault tells them after next year no more engine. They kinda deserve it. McLaren had it BAD with Honda, but apart from Alonso going off on the radio, the senior management always treated them with respect in public and really didn't even criticize them much, even recently. Contrast that with how RB treated Renault right after winning 4 years of championships- which Renault arguably contributed a lot to with the blown diffuser.

Renault have what they need in McLaren. Respectful counterparts including a French guy who previously ran their team, premium car brand that will elevate their own by association, solid chassis benchmark for the works team as it develops.

One wonders if this would've been possible with Ron still there..
