    F1 is a peculiar thing. We're in the 3rd year and Renault's goal is to halve the deficit to the Mercs. So basically you're hoping to lose by half as much. Lofty goals. I understand it all...I do... but at the same time you think about spending 100's of millions of dollars over a few seasons and you're satisfied with no chance of winning. It's just an odd things the way F1 works and what is considered fine and acceptable from an investment/return standpoint.

    What's got me confounded on a tangible front is their difficulty with the ICE part of the PU. They clearly know how to build engines so what is it exactly that they can't figure out. The parts that so many other teams can't get atop of like the ERS and all the other management systems... they've got it down. Why the issues with the most basic... and I use that term loosely... part of the PU.
