Hotel Galvez is not in Houston, it's about an hour outside, in Galveston. The hotel is decent but I personally think Galveston is dump. The car should be alright at the hotel, but it will probably attract a lot of attention once you leave the lot.

Galvez is very nice......open surface lots no fencing, will most likely provide extra security, for that type of gathering.

I drive and leave my Fcars in Galveston all the time, working a fire remodel job there...but i'm known to da' boys in the 'hood!

Just bring some good Karma, besides it's a rental! LOL!

Man, I recall the brass headboards..one girl I dated for awhile, well she........

Actually, leaving the island stopping for fuel, a guy RAVED over my car and invited me to stop by his new Italian restaurant....it's on 45th Street not far from the house I was doing.....I'll get the name, next time I drive by.....

Galveston does have a kind of "end of the road" feel to it......the trip from Houston will retrace I45, down and back, unless you leave going east via a ferry........??????

You guys disappoint me. The picture of the Elise on that website is NOT an Elise. I don't know what it is, but it isn't an Elise.

Some good friend's of ours own Hotel Galvez-it's a nice hotel-a good place to rest your head. Parking is not an issue, I have driven my vehicles down there many occasions and they always have security around it.

looking at the maps on the cannonball site it seems to be straight down the I45, no corners :(
maybe I will find some back roads with some corners on my way back to houston the following day.

Actually, watch closely at the slight left hand bend, north of Dickenson...DPS will hug the inside barrier there, with radar..Galveston County Sherriffs take over just south of that...trying to slow beach bound party crowds.

Also, as you pass the Greyhound track in Texas City/LaMarque, upgrade to full alert as they routinely shadow the several overpasses in that jurisdiction.

Lastly, the Galveston Causeway is being replaced and the construction reroutes have some pretty hairy pavement transitions...don't leave a fender on the side thru there, it's reduced to 55MPH with associated extra fines for speeding..

Anything else I can help with....shout out! Heck, I'll roll with ya and check it out ...is there a link to this event?

Anytime..the whole stretch of pavement is my backyard!

Heck, I poured part of that concrete, as a young lad.........just take it easy and enjoy the day!

Stop at The Spot on the seawall for a good bite to eat and some scenery! ;)

I'll get the name of the other one, on 45th St.

Do a search...somewhere long ago on here there was a hilarious thread on "old Guys with barefoot hot teens on the (Galveston) Bolivar Ferry"..

We decided the draw must be big screen TVs! LOL!

Is that still on here? Ralph wrote it, IIRC!

Up the coast past High Island, where TX87 is washed out into the Gulf, it's a 'clothing optional' beachfront.....dunno if I'd run an Fcar there.............in Crystal Beach they still expect a full suit!
