    Rent or Buy Lamborghini Gallardo??

    Which investment is better?

I've seen some used Gallardos in the mid $95k. I know the car is based on $3.00 a mile operating cost and roughly running $1,500 for insurance. I don't want this vehicle to be daily driven. Maybe 5-6 times in a month to drive this vehicle. I need your suggestions. I know the rental price will also add up if you rent the Gallardo 5 times in one month just to satisfy my hunger. At my area the average rental cost is about $1400 for 24 hours, 70 mile allowed and $2.95 a mile after the 70 mile

Would you recommend join Club sportivia or other car clubs, renting the car or just purchase the Gallardo.
What's yor recommendation on a high mileage Gallardo, maybe 33-40k miles? How long does the motor last without a engine rebuild?
    Rent or Buy??

When you rent and you turn in the car at the end of the day, you have nothing. When you buy, you will have something at the end of the day when you pull it into your garage.

I can't figure out how and why anyone would rent an exotic unless they are someone who would NEVER buy one and their wife rented it for them as a birthday present. Only reason I could see why you would want to waste money like that.

I think that it does make sense to rent depending upon the circumstances. For example, if you like variety, a car club would let you drive several types of cars and you wouldn't get bored. Or, even if you wanted to buy a car and weren't sure which one suited you best, you would be able to extensively drive each one before deciding on your favorite.

For those that don't drive much, it would probably be more economically feasible to join a car club. When you add up the maintenance, repairs and insurance of owning an exotic, you'd be surprised at how much your costs are. Even if all of those ownership costs end up being the same as rental costs, the rental would still be the right financial choice. Why? Holding cost!

I suppose one can make the argument why get married when you can get escort service?
Does the pride of ownership mean anything??

Right, if you buy a new car especially, the depreciation is crushing. I've never done the car club thing, but have "run the numbers". When you add in the depreciation factor and assuming you drive the car a few times a month (maybe this is more of a cold climate issue in that we can only drive our cars so much), and you don't keep it forever, I think there is a place in the exotic car world for these clubs. That being said, there is some pride in owning your car and going out to the garage to stare at it. :)

Renting or going through a club will assure that you use the car far, far less than you would if you had it in the garage ready to go when the mood took you. Having to plan every drive in the Lambo days in advance would just suck.

If you could own it... own it!
I rent a few lambos a year... still a surgical resident on a resident salary.. Once I'm an attending.. I'll stop the renting and buy what I can!

"you rented" versus "it's mine" is quite the difference.
