Which rental agency @ the SA airport will be fair about a one-way ( SA to Austin) rental? Just basic transportation is needed. Hertz wants to rip my head off @ $160 for an economy car!

Do you have AAA? When I was in SoCal I got a Chevy Malibu from Hertz for ~$45 a day with AAA discount.

I had a Chevy truck from Enterprise as a loaner while my Vette was in the shop but I have no idea what it cost.

Your problem is that you want a one way. They charge mileage on top of the daily rental when you drop off somewhere else. Good luck.

    Maybe U-haul would be cheaper?

Actually, the smallest Uhaul truck (10' minimover) from San Antonio to Austin shows at $80 (not including sales tax and optional insurance), according to uhaul.com
