    Hi everyone,
I'm thinking of changing the color of my red 488 to a custom orange, kind of like the image below.

How do you think such a change affects the resale value of the car?

What if the car already had a previous repaint on a few panels to fix accident damage? The car is already going to be repainted its original color.

    Thanks to anyone who responds.

Agree with first response…..I’d wrap it. Unless….you don’t ever plan on selling/trading, if that’s the case, give it the best paint job you can get.

Be sure and take a lot of pictures before you paint to show condition. People might think it was wrecked. The general rule is to leave cars the same color they left factory but some people do repaint their cars. Might be better to sell yours and get a different car in a color you like better. I have thought of repainting one of my cars for the last couple of years but so far just don't have the guts to do it.

If you don’t care about value then paint it. But you’re asking, so we’ll assume you care…it will get pummeled. Much better off wrapping it

Even if only to change the color-at least 30% but if the repaint is the remedy for body damage expect even more of a haircut.

With that color, you have greatly reduced the number of potential buyers so you already will make it more difficult to sell. As others have said, wrap it so you can go back to resale red when you want to sell it.

    Wrap it...

Also painting it is going to costs way more than most people ever think it will. Plus it will be in the shop for a minimum of 6months

You can use a temp paint that peels off when you want, circa $7000NZ at CeramicPro NZ. Lasts circa 10 years in top condition depending on stone chips (can repair). Better than wrap. Seen a brand new car completed, looks amazing.

As others have said, it would kill the value.

As a matter of personal taste, I think orange is a bit shouty for a Ferrari. Lamborghini, McLaren… sure, but Ferrari wears classic colors better, IMHO. Enjoy it in original red — 488 is a beautiful car.

I'm late, but thanks for the feedback everyone!

I am going to keep it in its original red. I would love orange but - it's just a color. Maybe if I ever get a Lambo.
