I bought a single can exhaust muffler recently and it was damaged by UPS. Actually, while the box was destroyed but the damage to the muffler seems to be limited to just one tip.

As you can see from the photos, the outer right tip is now oval.

Does anyone have a trick for rounding this out? Unfortunately, my area suffers from a low competency level so I'm forced to DIY on most everything (can't even get a decent haircut).

    Thanks

Well this is what I would do. Get a piece of wood about 2in thick and hole saw through it the same size as the tip. Cut about 1/2in slab out of the center so you have two half moon pieces. Use those pieces along with a vice to squish the tip back to round.

There will be some spring back which is why you need to remove some material from the center section of the wood halves, so you can oval it slightly in the other direction for it to spring back to round.

You will need a tapered wooden dowel to hammer into the pipe. Most muffler shops have the equipment to bump pipes larger and they could use that same equipment to round your tips.

    Second question.

This little connector bracket between the tips is cracked on both. Is the bracket itself supposed to be a sort of "V"-shape like in the photos? My dual-can exhaust has a single pipe with a Y into two tips each, so I can't reference anything else.

I'm afraid it won't be that easy. Notice the complexity of design within the tip itself. And the nice rolled outer edge.

That tip is rolled yes but there is no space and it will not crush. Ive seen it done many a time and the tips are very solid. The broken welds should be welded and yes the spacer in-between is supposed to be bent.
