I briefly looked at the archives for a winter project I haven't attempted yet. The leather on the drivers side's trim behind the front windshield has separated from the foam and backside of the metal strip (as seen below). I want to do a good job repairing it, so I need to remove the strips and re-glue the leather. How do I properly remove the strips without destroying anything? Is it held by clips and where are they located? I have to repair two sections, so I have to remove strips 1 and 2. ... and what glue or process do you recommend? thanks, Steve

That stuff gets pretty brittle over time - you might want to completely replace the leather/vinyl while you're at it..

Yeah, the previous owner had the top dash replaced with vinyl and I guess it'll depend on the condition of the material before I decide either to do a quick repair OR replace both sides with new material.

IIRC from doing my interior 8 years ago, strip #1 in your pic is held in there by what i would call compression clips/pegs. Some slow and gentile prying with a narrow srew driver or strong putty knife straight back will pop it off. The #2 piece is attached via screws that will be revealed once strip #1 is off.

As for adhesive, a good quality carpet adhesive spray, heavy duty spray adhesive or contact cement would all work.
