I have gotten nothing but compliments on the sound and looks of my 488 spider.
I have not heard anything along those lines here in the US, but I haven't spoken with the dealer that seriously about the 812 yet. Right now, I just have an appointment to see a used one later this week. That's the extent of things right now for me. Ray
The dealer WILL be charging over. Cars are sold out for 2019 MY and possibly even 2020. 50-60K over seems to be the market Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
no prob dynamically there is no contest, the 488 is the winner, the rest is more of a subjective choice to be made, to each his own so to say
In actual road tests the 488GTB easily does a 2.7-2.8s 0-60mph, while the 458 does it in 3.0-3.4s...and then the 458 gets obliterated in the quarter mile by a full second. Video felt 458 biased, and the two blokes don't seem credible one bit, though I agree the 458 inside and out is the prettier car.
I Even as a 458 owner I agree the "test" if you can even call it that, was biased in favor of the 458
I must say to each of his own. I am just glad that you enjoy your 488 so much, but I hope you would keep your speciale too because if i were to add on a third Ferrari right now, it will be a speciale aperta. Damn I want it!!!!
In this instance, honest, objective automotive journalism is an oxymoron. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
488 in my opinion has less character than the 458 and is more like the other turbo cars on the market. If you want a car that is less Ferrari but faster, go for the 488. Not sure how fast people really need to go in these things. I have a stage 4 991.1 Porsche TTS that is a launch monster, but I still prefer the 458 for the excitement factor it provides. In either case, the next generation is around the corner. You would probably be best served by waiting for the next iteration if you’re going to switch to a newer model soon.
The 458 and 488 have been at Le Mans, where private teams have been up on the podium! The 488 is the faster car. Hopefully the 488 replacement will eclipse its older brother and be driven in anger too! Great to see Ferrari competing and winning in these race series.
I bought a 458 spider last month to park next to my F12. The cars are radically different, and I love both for totally different reasons. I wasn’t as bent on having as much power as possible because I have an F12. I think the 458 spider is amazing value, so I didn’t see it tanking much more than it already has. The car is amazing to look at, especially if you find the right one that is the perfect color combo and spec for you. If I were going to own only one Ferrari, I’d likely have a 488 spider vs. the 458. I still watch the 488 values, but I’m going to see where they are at after the first of the year. They’re coming down quickly. Like others have said, it’s a great problem to have! Trevor
