    Hi

My 1995, 2.7 motronic, 355 has 56,000 miles on the clock and runs very well.... I would say she runs perfectly...pulls all the way to 8500 rpm, idles peacefully, no cel lights, etc.

The belts were last changed 6 years ago (4000 miles only) so need to get them done soon.

Does the forum advise me to replace the two crank speed sensors whilst the engine is out...or really no need?

Am going to install the GCK kit when engine is out.

Am replacing the timing belt hydraulic tensioners and bearings.

Anything else i should replace whilst that beast of a motor is on the floor...any sensors for example that could be replaced?

The water pump was renovated 6 years ago and she has new engine mounts.

    Thanku.

my thought is that if you are doing the Gck....then why not the sensors?

My point is that you are already trying to update everything in a "just in case " fashion.

might as well do O2 sensors and fuel pressure regulators too....also clean out the idle air valves.

However, if you magically get a CEL when all is said and done, then good luck with trying to trace down the new problem.

Yes, replace the crank sensors. You can probably even use the Kia sensors ($20 ea). You may be surprised at the condition of their plugs beneath the bracket when you remove them. They tend to disintegrate. Also plan on replacing the accessory belt tensioner bearing. Might as well have your headers smoked whileyerinthere. ENJOY!

The crank sensors are passive devices. That is, there is no power going to them. They only send an electrical signal back to the ECU. In effect, they work like a little generator.

Inspect them. If they are working and not cracked there is little point in replacing them just cause you are in there. If they need to be replaced in the future they can be without taking the engine out.

Won't get into the GCK other than to say it's a complete waste of money.
