replace water pump?

    is it absolutely necessary to replace water pump during my 15 K service on my 348 spyder if it is found to be absent of any problems?

    I say, If it ain't broke don't fix it. But that is just my opinion. When I did the major on my 348 I didn't change mine because the bearing in the water pump was just fine. 6,000 miles later I still have no problem. How ever then next major I will rebuild it, there is no way I'm gonna pay $1,000 for a water pump. If you need to replace it DO NOT buy a new one. You can get it rebuilt for about $450 to $500.

    Absolutely necessary? No. Advisable? Yes. I'm with Ernie. Rebuild it.
