Another weekend, another project. And although I am enjoying all my projects so far a lot, I must say that sometimes the simplest tasks in other cars are quite elaborate once you own a Ferrari ;-)

In any case, on of the headlights was no longer functioning at full power. See the picture below. On further inspection I found that the previous owner had replaced head and rear lights with LED lights, but the head lights LED did most likely not have proper heat sinks, so one was slowly burning and changing brightness. Also, I actually prefer halogen on a classic car such as this.

As most know, the 328 has the fun property that you cannot switch the light power off while the headlights are popped up, so you have to pop them up, and then disconnect the battery (negative pole), which, of course is all the way hidden below the spare tire, under a metal plate.

Then, after carefully removing the red box (not easy!) and mount rings for both lights, replacing the actual lights is finally as easy as you expected when you started the project..... :)

I used the Silverstar Sylvania H6024 as halogen replacements (although I found other compatible brands as well, so this is a personal choice; as is LED over halogen). I also like that the replacement lights are much lighter than the LED units I was replacing, so probably less strain on the lifter motor.

Now I have uniform and bright front lights again!

The party is not over though, since one last walk around the car revealed on of the rear lights has a very similar problem (also a LED replacement). But that is for another weekend and another posting.
