Yesterday, I replaced the 2 blue Bosch coils that were in my GT4 with 2 MSD Blaster II "High Vibration" coils (P/N 8222). The H.V. coils were recommended for installation in positions other than "upright" - I learned this the hard way by buying an standard Blaster II coil (8202), getting it home, and reading the instructions. Fortunately, the place I purchased them from was open 'til 6:00pm vs. 5:00pm, so I was able to take them right back and do an exchange.

The swap itself was ridiculously simple. I did it through the LR wheel well for the best approach at the fasteners that hold down the coil brackets. I just did 1 at a time, and started the car after each was completed (per Brian Harper's recommendation - Thanks Brian!) for the best odds of troubleshooting if something wasn't right.

I took it on a quick shakedown run to get the car good and hot and to see if I still had any of the issues I had with the old coils - loss of spark on one bank when hot, hesitation above ~4500RPM at WOT, intermittant backfiring, etc.

    All gone!

The car even starts faster now...at least it did last night. It's really impressive, actually. I was also able to take it north of 6,000 RPM for the first time in a couple months - what a howl! :D Too bad there's rain in the forecast today, or I'd be out there right now!

    Just thought I'd report in...
