Aloha...one of my fans stopped working and I'm thinking of installing a lightweight plastic one for more efficient cooling.....any leads?

Also.....how do you remove the fan blade from the shaft to make it easier to get the motor out?

greg- u will notice that the nuts are standard & that is because the fans are Lucas Fans. The fitted them on old Jag sedans etc. If you call Xk's unlimited they sell them & pretty cheap from what I recall. The shaft for the fan has a flat spot and there is a grub screw (look carefully) that holds the fan to the shaft against the flatted part. Good Luck..its not a tough job

Greg, not sure you can find plastic replacements for this application. The area is fairly small so you are somewhat restricted in size and mounting hardware. The original Lucas fans were quite capable and robust with either 3-blade (Dino) or 4-blade (308s and later) fans. Assuming the rest of the cooling system is okay (good water pump and clean, freely flowing radiator), you'll find them plenty adequate. They may have been used in Jag sedans as champc says, but the Jag sources I talked to said they are from the Jag XKE V-12s - - Lucas P/N 78497-R for both. That's what I bought at this URL in Feb https://www.xksunlimited.com/xks/merchant.ihtml?pid=11735&lastcatid=109&step=4https://www.xksunlimited.com/xks/merchant.ihtml?pid=11735&lastcatid=109&step=4
and they were just like the originals except for paint. They come with a bright zinc (silver) finish . . . should be gray hammertone if you are into keeping it original.

    Hope this helps.

Gregg, definitely go with what your fellow 206 owners have found acceptable. The 246 fans I found may not fit on the 206.

ALOHA....THANX FOR ALL THE INFO.....MY MOTORS ARE HELD ON WITH A BASE WITH 4 BOLTS....

TOOK OFF THE LOWER GRILL SCREEN, AND THE SET SCREWS THAT HOLD THE BLADES ARE FROZEN....THINK I'LL JUST DRILL THEM OUT, REMOVE /REPLACE OR FIX THE ONE BAD MOTOR AND PUT ON THE PLASTIC 308 BLADES I GOT FROM DENNIS MCCANN LAST YEAR. MY OTHER OPTION IS TO PUT A PLASTIC COOLING FAN RIGHT UP AGAINST THE RADIATOR.......

Greg- I replaced my stock Ferrari/Lucas fans with Toyota fans many years ago. I have the originals should I care to return to stock, but the capacity, current draw, and cooling are all superior with modern fans. Took a bit of minor fabrication, but the result cannot be seen, and the car runs cool.
