What is wrong with the hose that you have? You can have a hydraulic hose repair company fabricate a new hose using your original fittings.
Also the part number that you have 146906, is for a 512TR or 512M, not a 1990 Testarossa. The hose from the oil tank to the engine on your car is part#
    126475.
If you need a new one, here is an inexpensive source for one: https://www.eurospares.co.uk/search?partNumber=125475, or you can buy a used hose:

Did you forget to disconnect it when removing the engine, as I see it hanging down at a pretty severe angle in the photo. The only thing that usually happens to that hose is that some people leave it in place, still connected to the oil tank, and the clutch/pulley on the air injection pump squashes the outside braid on the hose as the engine comes out, which is why I always remove the hose from the car when doing an engine-out service.
If you only squashed the outer braid, then the inner hose is still probably just fine. You can reshape the outer braid/covering and you should be ok. If the hose is badly damaged, see my recommendation above. That hose is not under high pressure, as it is the supply hose from the oil tank to the suction side of the oil pump.

    Good day Brian,

Just a heads up that not all hydraulic hose shops will have the correct hose for this application. I say this, as I recently had to do this on my BB and finding a shop/hose was not easy... and this is speaking from an Area that specially caters to the Oil and Gas Industry. The issue is not the pressure, etc but is both the peak oil operating temperature and the fact the some fuel with possibly ethanol is present in the oil (via the inefficiencies of our engines). These oil contaminants can break down the insides of these hoses over time...In my case where there are at least 100 different Hydraulic shops and I found only one shop that had hose that could withstand the operating temps and contaminants. That being said, you may have a shop that has already addressed this and if so my apologies for the chatter.

    Cheers,

    Sam

    Good day,

I do not recall, as it was the Hydraulic shop that investigated this. However, I will look for the payment receipt and can call the shop to find out. I do remember that the fellow stated that the hose was impervious to virtually all fluids except brake fluid.

    Cheers,

    Sam

Even though the hose is 28yrs old it is in overall good condition except for the minor crimping at the end which concerns me a little. Do you know if this hose can be replaced with the engine in the car if required?

That minor damage to the braid on the outside of the hose will have no effect on the inner liner. The hose should be fine for the life of the car. You can easily replace it at any time in the future with the engine in the car.
