My car is in the shop getting a full belt service and general going over. I need new tires so I called Tirerack. It seems the rear tires (265/40x18) are on back order for several months. The agent I talked to says he wouldn't change sizes. Anyone have any suggestions for replacements that won't chage ride height etc.

Standard issue: 275/40ZR18s fit just fine, as do 296/35ZR18s. The 275/40s are so close to 265/40s that a pound of pressue will rebalance the oversteer/understeer relationship. The 295/35s may require a turn or two to be taken out of the rear ride height adjustment to reestablish the O/U relationship.

There are zillions of 265/35ZR18s around to fit Porsches,... don't use them (0.5" too small in rolling radius).
