I have had this car for 15 years and have replaced the battery before bt this time I took it ot a week ago to get replacement but now I cannot remember which cable is the positive and which is negative. There are no markings on the cables and I am afraid to hook up the battery and possibly reverse polarity. Any ideas.

Positive and Negative posts are different sizes so if cable ends are in good shape should be obvious. I no longer have my 308 so I can't just go look

The negative cable is bolted to the chassis. Follow where they go and you'll see.

These cars are so old, that his car may or may not even have the original clamps. If in doubt of +/-, trace the wiring and find the body ground; this can be done with a continuity check and a meter in seconds.

I'd never rely on the size of the clamps.
