Trying to save a trip to the mechanic. Still getting the slow down light after changing oil, checking all grounds and connections. Just the warning, never the bank shutdown.

So I ordered the two cat ecus from Ricambi, and I'm thinking about doing it myself.

Can anyone help me with some pics of where these are located and how to replace them? Thanks!

They (#20) are located under the fender covers on either side of the engine. [IMG]

If you would, pease post a follow up note sharing your feedback regarding the effort to switch out the ECU's as well as the resulting effect of the Slow Down flashing light indicator. Thanks!

Very easy, just remove the side covers disconnect the 2 harness on each ECU and replace.

as a side note check the harness connections before replacing the ECU's could be loose or bad ground.... I was getting the SDL occasionally and loosing half the power, So now i'm in the process of opening the ECU's to see if I find a loose solder point and driving with out the ECU's and always have the SDL but no lose of power.

See pic, mine is a coup spiders have them same area but closer to cabin in believe.

Thanks prefect. I have a spider so I'm sure it's close. It will be a week till I update. Going to do the change on Monday and then drive the car to the shore on Thursday. That should tell me if my fix worked.

Forgot to mention, shut down electrical power to car, with main switch in front.

Not sure if necessary to run trough the power up cycle ounce electrical power is back

I think you have to do the power cycle any time pull the power. My worry would be partial information being left in ram in the system if the power off cycle as too short. Besides a power cycle is a good excuse to kill and hour in the czr.

Ok so got the part installed...only got one with the theory that with electronics it'***** or miss for both failing. Takes about 15 min to do the install...which most of the time is taking off the side covers.

Puy it on the drivers side, check all connections, grounds, made sure the sensors on the cats were right, took it for the ecu reset drive and all ok.....till the 10 min drive as normal when the light came on again.

No worries, took the old one from the drivers side and put on the passenger side, went thru the entire process again and good after ecu reset.

Took the car on a 100 mile drive last night to my shore house and no light....so I'm optimistic but hesitant to say the problem is fixed until I can go all weekend and trip back without it poping.

Did use high temp silicone on both sensors seams to hopefully prevent the same thing from happening again.

As a side note, both sensors were the "newer" green top design so they had been replaced at some point once before

^ Glad it worked out. Good call on buying only one new one.
