Hi All - I managed to strip the drain plug threads on the mounting plate for the rear drain plug (part #171045) on my 360. Fortunately Hill Engineering offers what appears to be an improved replacement for a fraction of the OEM part from Ferrari.

I assume that I'll need to use a gasket material between the mating surfaces of the replacement plate and the engine / transmission case? If so, what kind should I use? Part in question is #49 in the image below:

I recently did mine and used gray permetex. Not a drip at all. Make sure its extremely clean. Acetone and and follow a good practice of putting a small bead and not over torque the plate. Follow along with a new plug and you should be good to go.

Anything that on the package states "cures quicker in the presence of oil" is magical stuff for automotive use, in my mind.

One of the main things to know:
Put the top back on the tube as quickly as possible...it dries very quickly when exposed to air.
And once the top of the tube sets up, it's like dry rot in wood...impossible to get rid of."

Hammer, be sure to not follow the rated newton meter torque in the service manual. Way too tight, just snug it real nice by feel to avoid stripping it again. There torque rating is way too high IMHO. Cheers

100%. Following the service manual is what got me into this situation in the first place. I should have trusted my gut as it felt way too tight to me at the time. Hopefully someone else reads this and benefits from my mistake! Cheers
