It took me about 20 min to do one side. I couldn't find any 0 weight grease to lube the joint instead, I used the assembly lube from CRC on the ball joint. When I took the torn boot off, there were NO sign of oil leakage and it was clean from the inside, I guess this means that the seal for the pinion gear is still good. I also tried to push and pull the tie rod end and I felt no play. Some day I would like to replace the bushings on the steering rack and pinion with a polyurethane or better.

I assume you removed the rod from the tie rod end? Going for an alignment next or do you think you got it back to where it was?

Did that job a few times myself. Found out how important alignment is on a 308. Car drove so much better once properly aligned after replacing the boots.

    Thanks Matt!
I counted precisely how many turns before the tie rod end came off, it was exactly 15 turns, put it back with the same turns, test drove the car and she goes straight with out holding the steering wheel.
