What is the trick of replacing the rear glass back into a 246GTS, it looks that it will never fit between the "flares"at the back.

You have to slightly bend the glass. A little scary!

Take it to a professional who has done many before doing yours! If you are a professional but without this experience, find someone with experience to help. This is not your typical DIY project.

As "professional", is a very loosely interpreted word around here, we bit the bullet, sliced the gasket as much as possible as it was almost plasticised, and pushed one corner out.
The tropics, nice hot day, so that may have helped. Putting it back in will be another experience...I was advised to use vegetable shortening when reinstalling, starting at one corner, then lube the buttress and...we'll see!

Where you are, I would definitely go to a "professional".

    Regards, Alberto

Use a hair dryer to warm the glass. Use silicon spray or soapy water on the outside of the rubber and the inside of the buttress. Gentle but consistent pressure and it will slide past the buttress. Easy as a walk in space.

To get it past the flying buttress'es you will need to pull the two edges together by around 15mm !!!
But believe you me glass is very flexible........just don't watch.
    Warm it up first though.

I will never forget having this done.
Nobody from the workshop wanted to do it, so I had to do it by myself.
I was on my knees inside the car on both seats and put one hand
in each corner of the glass. The necessary bending is incredible much
and I expected every second the "bang"... It worked without heating the glas
up, but I did it also during summer with 25 degrees C outside.
Back in was much easier with some soap/lube it moved in with the rubber by pushing
from outside. I really hope that any reproduction glass has the same flexibility.
    Regards and good luck

it looks more difficult than it is, i remove in half hour and fit in one hour, but if a new rubber is fitted it take a day. i do not destroy the rubber, i use only my fingers a rope and paraffin oil
